Technical lead for the melon and watermelon crops: planting plans, fertigation, integrated pest management, traceability and export quality.
Apply for this positionWe are looking for an agronomist to technically lead our export melon and watermelon production, working closely with the owner and the field team.
Main duties
- Plan the season's staggered plantings and fertigation programs.
- Lead integrated pest and disease management and applications, respecting pre-harvest intervals.
- Supervise field and irrigation staff and train them in good practices.
- Keep the field records and traceability required by markets and certifications.
- Coordinate harvest at optimal ripeness and quality control in the packhouse.
- Propose improvements in productivity, water use and costs.

Requirements
- University degree in Agronomy or Agricultural Engineering, registered with the Costa Rican College of Agronomists
- At least 3 years of proven experience in export melon and/or watermelon production
- Command of drip fertigation, crop nutrition and integrated pest management
- Knowledge of good agricultural practices, traceability and export certifications (e.g. GlobalG.A.P.)
- Ability to lead field teams and keep orderly records
- Valid B1 driver's licence and availability to live in the area or relocate in season
- Basic English for communication with customers and auditors is a plus
- Up-to-date police clearance certificate
- Copy of both sides of your ID
