Watermelon planting for export

At Agrícola LG Calderón we grow watermelon for export on our farms in the Nicoya Peninsula, taking advantage of the dry, sunny climate of the North Pacific, which produces sweet, firm, well-colored fruit.

How we manage the crop

1. Land preparation. Soil analysis, plowing, planting beds and drip irrigation lines, which allow us to plant in the dry season with efficient water use.
2. Planting and establishment. Transplanting or direct seeding depending on the variety, with weed control and crop protection from the first days.
3. Crop management. Fertigation, pollination, pest and disease monitoring and field records for the traceability of every lot.
4. Harvest. Fruit is harvested at optimal ripeness and handled carefully to avoid bruising.
5. Sorting and packing. Grading by size and quality, cleaning and packing to each customer's specifications, container-ready.

Export quality
